CFP worked in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, Houghton Regis Town Council and The Greensand Trust to deliver the People Plan for the Houghton Hall Park restoration project. We delivered consultation, evaluation, audience development, learning and training, volunteering and interpretation outputs for the project. We also assisted Central Bedfordshire Council with pulling together a comprehensive, cohesive and persuasive Round Two Parks for People application form, with funding secured in January 2015.
Our team produced a website for the project to raise awareness of the project, support consultation activity and as a tool for communication during the development stage. This was also complemented with an innovative monthly online newsletter which was sent out to the local community.
In developing the People Plan, we worked with Central Bedfordshire College to provide training and learning opportunities in the proposed walled kitchen garden. This continued our track record of developing partnerships between educational establishments and local authorities that develop strong apprentice programmes for NEETS and students in areas such as sport, ground maintenance, catering, childcare and business skills.
Through the development of the project, CFP set up a comprehensive evaluation toolkit that allowed baseline information to be gathered against the Parks for People outcomes. A series of ‘masterclasses’ run by us allowed local community groups and volunteers to gather this information and participate in the project, also significantly assisting with the project’s required volunteer contributions.
