The BackgroundPlay area image
CFP were appointed by Bolsover District Council to carry out a green space audit and develop a strategy for the future provision of green space across the district.

The Objective
To carry out an audit of all green space across the district, regardless of ownership, develop local standards and inform the wider planning process and to set out a long term plan for the provision of green space until 2026.

Just add CFP
CFP have used our experience of green space management and strategic planning to record all green space in the district, developing GIS mapping and a database of all spaces greater than 0.1 hectares in the ownership of parish and town councils, Derbyshire County Council, sports clubs and community based organisations, heritage and wildlife organisations, private landowners and the district council. We have also considered the provision of green space by the eight neighbouring authorities and have consulted with a variety of green space providers.

Consultation has been carried out with local residents, green space providers, schools and educational establishments, parish and town council and a series of stakeholder workshops have been delivered across the district. Young people were consulted through a young persons survey and through the Bolsover Youth Council.

The Result
The green space audit has been completed along with the initial consultation processes. The findings are currently being reviewed and draft local standards are being developed to inform the Local Development Framework. The draft strategy will be made available for public consultation in August 2010.
