The Background
For many years the Friends of Deane Road Cemetery and the Liverpool Old Hebrew Congregation have been trying to restore this important Jewish burial ground. First created in 1835 it closed for burials in 1904 and restoration projects have been ongoing since the late 1970s.

In 2009 the group made a round 1 application to HLF under their Heritage Grants Programme and were successful.

The Objective
Ian Baggott was appointed initially by HLF as a mentor to help the group through the development stage and specifically help in planning out the process and the appointment of consultants.

When the person who was providing support to the project was made redundant the group contacted Ian to ask if he would  come back to help them bring the project to a conclusion and help the group to manage the final stages of the application.
The work has involved establishing project management systems, exploring match funding, support with reporting, cost management and managing consultants.

Just add CFP
CFP’s knowledge of HLF grant programmes, of restoration projects generally, and also years of working with community groups plus project management skills meant we were the ideal advocate for the group to ensure that they made the best possible stage 2 application.

The Result
The Round 2 submission will be made in June 2010 with a decision later in the year.
