Green Flag in Scotland
The Client
Edinburgh City Council
The Background
Edinburgh City Council wanted to be at the forefront of the pilot to extend the Green Flag Award into Scotland and the head of service wanted a team approach to securing the award. The authority also wanted to use the principles of Green Flag to develop a city wide quality auditing system.
The Objective
CFP were appointed to run Green Flag awareness raising workshops for staff within the parks service and then developed training using the award criteria for quality auditing. CFP also helped the authority develop how they would roll out the auditing and assessed 40 sites as a bench mark / pilot.
Just add CFP
The initial work was well received and we were called back to run more training around management planning for parks staff and members of friends groups. More than this - our methods meant that a greater understanding was developed between the authority and its community groups.
The Result
The City Council secured 2 Green Flag Awards on their first application and increased this to three in their second year.
