Marine Cove, Burnham on Sea
The Client
Sedgemoor District Council
The Background
CFP were appointed to support the Council in the development of a Round 2 bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund’s “Parks for People” grant programme for the renovation of an Edwardian Garden on the seafront at Burnham on Sea.
The Objective
Use the existing information from a previous Stage 1 Parks for People bid (done under the previous grant programme) as baseline data to produce a detailed and costed Round 2 application for Marine Cove Gardens.
Just add CFP
CFP enjoy building strong relationships with their clients and value their long standing relationship with staff at Sedgemoor District Council, one which has enabled an in-depth knowledge of the work and direction of the Council and also the challenges and opportunities that faced the project. CFP worked closely with the Council in supporting the successful Round 1 bid and so set about creating a winning application for Round 2.
CFP were involved in guiding the client through the grant application process and developing the necessary suite of documents to support the grant application. Specifically, the supporting documents CFP produced were:
Conservation Management Plan
Management and Maintenance Plan
Activity Plan
Marketing Plan
Signage and Interpretation Plan
Monitoring and Evaluation Plan
Consultation Report
On this project CFP put to good use their experience of creating strategic partnerships with top performers from different disciplines; drafting in Ashmead Price, the respected landscape planning and design consultants, to enable the seamless planning of a comprehensive conservation management plan.
The Result
Having a realistic understanding of the client’s capacity has allowed CFP to deliver a tailored project that is achievable but doesn’t compromise on quality, and it is by having a strong relationship with the Council that has enabled the bid to be pulled together so quickly and become the first Round 2 applicant under the revised Parks for People programme.
