The Background
Following a successful expression of interest to Natural England’s Access to Nature grant scheme the Council and its partners were invited to prepare a full funding bid. Unfortunately, they did not have the capacity to take the project forward within the limited time span available and so CFP were commissioned to develop the grant application.

The Objective
Review the outline stage one submission and lead on the preparation and submission of the stage two application; ensuring inclusion of all the information needed to assess the viability of the project.

Just add CFP
Having met with the project’s partners CFP developed a detailed business case that set out clearly how the project will contribute to the grant scheme’s objectives. CFP have a multi-disciplinary team of consultants which gave the flexibility to draw on different skills and understanding of urban and green space management as the project progressed.

The main output was the production of a comprehensive business plan that established the need for the project, identified the key sites in the town to enhance, defined the role of the partners, established an activity plan and set out the project costs.

The Result
CFP met the deadline and submitted the application within two months of being appointed. More importantly, there is now a robust plan of action for the Council to be able to deliver a lasting legacy of infrastructure and opportunities that will enable the local community to access, enjoy, and help conserve the green environment in Taunton for many years to come.
