As specialists we appreciate that, at times, many processes can seem complex. At CFP, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver sound practical advice and support – in an honest plain manner. Our aim is to simplify – not mystify.
And while our focus is always to deliver an innovative and effective outcome, every project is balanced by a pragmatic, common sense view. We never forget that every solution should be grounded in reality.
With wide ranging backgrounds in the public, voluntary, community and academic sectors, our understanding, experience and insight of greenspace matters are second to none.
The CFP team
Ian Baggott - Company Director
Ian set up Community First Partnership, now known as CFP, in 2001. Since then the company has steadily grown into a well regarded and successful business.
Ian’s multi faceted interest in the great outdoors was first developed whilst at the University College of North Wales when he gained a BSc in Zoology and developed a passion for rock climbing.
Since the conception of CFP Ian has established his reputation in the Green Space field by writing a number of national guidance documents, being part of national steering groups, task force working groups and being appointed to provide advice to national organisations such as CABE Space, HLF and the Civic Trust. He was also invited to join the RSA as a Fellow for his national contribution.
In his spare time Ian unwinds by racing around the local countryside on a mountain bike, tackling gravity defying climbing routes and splitting logs for winter firewood.
Adrian Spray - Principal Consultant
Adrian joined CFP in 2004 and his experience and skills have been invaluable to the growth and success of the business.
Adrian has 20 years varied experience in the private, public and voluntary and sectors involving people in improving their local environment, green space management and development. He has developed and delivered a variety of creative and innovative projects in partnership with local communities, funding bodies and other agencies. Adrian has spoken at conferences and his work has been recognised as an example of good practice at national level. He is a Green Flag Award Judge and a Community Spaces Facilitator.
Adrian is our in house IT specialist and currently maintains the company website and that for the West Midlands Parks Forum.
Away from work Adrian can be found seeking out new trails on his mountain bike and riding endurance events, camping and enjoying the great outdoors. He also has a keen interest in live music and enjoys attending music festivals.
Mike Anderson – Consultant
Mike joined CFP in 2007, with 14 years of local authority experience and expertise in green space operational management and conservation management. Passionate about improving green spaces, Mike is a Green Flag Award Judge, Community Spaces Facilitator and has been involved in the Natural England’s Steering Group for the Country Parks Network. He is also the secretary for the Countryside Management Association.
Recent project experience includes making applications to the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Parks for People grant programme; producing audience development plans and training plans. Mike has also worked with local authorities to update and create 10 year management plans to support Green Flag Award applications.
Away from work Mike is an armchair football fan and enjoys geocaching - described as using multi-billion dollar military hardware to find Tupperware in the woods.
Charlotte Baggott - Business Development Manager
Charlotte officially joined CFP in 2004 and has since provided a variety of supportive roles to the running of the company.
Charlotte’s experience in the environmental field has been diverse and wide ranging. Her experience as a park manager at Wolverhampton MBC included her first attempt at producing a management plan which formed part of a successful submission for a Grade II listed glasshouse.
Charlotte also worked for a playground equipment manufacturer and spent 6 years in the design of children’s play areas and the promotion of play equipment. Since working for CFP Charlotte has been responsible for company finance and administration as well as site assessment and writing management plans to satisfy Green Flag criteria.
Charlotte enjoys escaping for walks on the hills and mountain biking within a 5 mile radius of any reputable tea shop.
