Moat Brae is a Grade B listed Georgian town house in Dumfries, saved by the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust (PPMBT) in 2009 and now the subject on an exciting restoration and regeneration project that will create a Centre for Children’s Literature.
Phase A of the capital works started in January 2013 and has achieved the urgent restoration and repair work to both the house and garden. This initial phase worth over £750k has made the house wind and water tight.
In 2012 PPMBT made a successful application for a Heritage Grant from HLF for the next phase which is to completely restore the house, extend it to create new facilities and also to restore the garden.
The significance of the garden is its links to J M Barrie and Peter Pan.
“For our escapades in a certain Dumfries Garden, which is enchanted land to me, was certainly the genesis of that nefarious work” JM Barrie
Our Director, Ian Baggott, was appointed to work with PPMBT as a mentor as has helped the trust to appoint a design team, an activity and business planning team and general technical / project management support.
